⏱ 45 min · easy · 🍽 serves 4
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups coarse polenta
- 6 cups water
- 1 lb Italian sausage
- 2 bell peppers, sliced
- 1 onion, sliced
- 4 garlic cloves
- 1 can crushed tomatoes, 14 oz
- 3 tbsp butter
- 3/4 cup grated parmesan
- Kosher salt
Steps
- Bring the water to a boil with a tablespoon of salt. Whisk in the polenta in a slow stream to avoid lumps.
- Turn the heat to low and cook 35-40 minutes, stirring every few minutes, until it pulls away from the pot.
- Meanwhile brown the sausage, then add the peppers and onion and cook 10 minutes.
- Add the garlic for 1 minute, then the tomatoes. Simmer 15 minutes.
- Beat the butter and parmesan into the polenta and season.
- Spoon the sausage over the polenta.
👨🍳 Instant polenta is a different, worse ingredient. Coarse polenta and forty minutes is the whole dish.
