When to make it

Mull it up to 2 days ahead and reheat, or keep it warm in a slow cooker all afternoon.

Add it to your plan and Chef puts these on the right days, and fits it into your oven on Thursday.

For 12

  • 1 gallonfresh apple cider
  • 2oranges sliced
  • 4cinnamon sticks
  • 6whole cloves
  • 4star anise
  • 1 inchfresh ginger sliced
  • 1 cupbourbon or dark rum optional, on the side

How to make it

  1. Mull

Put everything except the spirits in a big pot and warm over low heat 30 minutes; never let it boil.

  2. Serve

Ladle into mugs with an orange slice. Set the bourbon out with a jigger for anyone who wants it.

Chef's notes

  • A slow cooker on Low keeps it perfect for hours and frees a burner.
