Where to eat alone in Paris

Paris has counters everywhere: standing wine bars, old bouillons that seat you with strangers, and udon bars in the 1st.

How to do it here

Ask for 'une place au comptoir' (a seat at the counter). Many bistros hold the bar for walk-ins even when the room is booked.
