Food Is Good, and they mean it

Twenty-plus years on Meeting Street and the menu still changes every day.

FIG stands for Food Is Good. When a restaurant names itself that, it's either very confident or in trouble. FIG has been on Meeting Street since 2003, so you know which.

Mike Lata and Adam Nemirow built it around what the farmers and fishermen around Charleston bring in, and the menu changes daily because of it. Nothing about it is fussy. It just tastes like somebody cared.

We went over Christmas last year, between the other big Charleston meals, and it was the one we talked about on the drive home.

If you only get one dinner in Charleston, book this one. Then book it early, because everyone else read the same advice.
