Studying abroad in Vienna

Every meal here costs €12 or less.

About $14 US. Typical prices, checked November 2, 2026.

Vienna is pricier than it looks, but students know the tricks: open sandwiches for under €2, a Käsekrainer at a sausage stand, one coffee that buys you a café table all afternoon, and cheap Turkish food by the Brunnenmarkt.

A day of eating for €18

  1. Breakfast, €4: Ströck, a Kipferl (Viennese croissant) and a coffee
  2. Lunch, €8: Trzesniewski, three or four small open sandwiches and a Pfiff (tiny beer)
  3. Dinner, €6: Bitzinger Würstelstand Albertina, a Käsekrainer (cheese-filled sausage) with mustard and bread

Breakfast, lunch and dinner: €18, about $21.
