    Kimbap

    Trader Joe's

Rice, vegetables and seaweed rolls that microwave in two minutes. The Korean trick for day-old kimbap is to dip the slices in egg and pan-fry them, and it works perfectly here.

Made in Korea, it sold out nationwide after going viral in 2023 and still sells out often. Check the app before you go.

    Egg-fried kimbap (gimbap jeon)

Frozen rice can be a little firm. An egg coating and a few minutes in the pan makes every slice soft inside and golden outside.

    You need

    • 1 bag Trader Joe's Kimbap
    • 2 large eggs
    • Pinch of salt
    • 1 tbsp neutral oil
    • 1 tbsp soy sauce mixed with 1 tsp rice vinegar, for dipping
    • Kimchi, to serve

    How to make it

    1. Microwave the kimbap as the bag says, then let it cool for 1 minute so the slices hold together.
    2. Beat the eggs with the salt in a shallow bowl.
    3. Heat the oil in a nonstick skillet over medium heat. Dip each slice in the egg on both sides and set it in the pan.
    4. Cook 1 to 2 minutes a side, until the egg is set and golden. Pour any leftover egg around the slices to fill gaps.
    5. Serve hot with the soy dip and kimchi on the side.
