Paul Carmichael's Caribbean tasting room for Momofuku. In the guide since 2025 and a James Beard Best New Restaurant semifinalist two years running. It cooks at the level Michelin stars, and it is the kind of new voice the inspectors like to find.
Critics: 86% of 6 reviews liked it
2
The New York Times put it No. 1 on its 100 best list in 2023 and again in 2024, and it still has no star. That gap gets harder to defend every year.
Critics: 79% of 4 reviews liked it
3
The Frenchette team inside the Cherry Lane Theatre, added to the guide in July. Raw bar, fried frog legs, a room people fight to get into. Lee Hanson and Riad Nasr have been knocking on this door for years.
4
The Four Horsemen's sibling (the Four Horsemen holds a star), with Nick Curtola cooking dishes that have no names, only ingredients. In the guide since April, and one of the hardest tables in Brooklyn.
5
Hanson and Nasr's revival of the 1937 bistro: céleri rémoulade, sole, île flottante, done better than anyone remembers. Classic French cooking at this level is exactly what Michelin was built to reward.
Cambodian cooking in Crown Heights, added in April and a 2026 James Beard Best New Restaurant semifinalist. Michelin has been starring small, personal rooms in Brooklyn and Queens; this is one.
A 28-seat Chinese small-plates and wine bar on Doyers Street, and a 2026 James Beard Best New Restaurant nominee. If the inspectors went more than once, it is in the conversation.
Joshua Pinsky's dining room, a fixture on the Times 100 best list. Precise, generous cooking and one of the city's great wine lists. In the guide, still waiting on a star.
A 30-seat fine-dining room from Top Chef finalist Sherry Cardoso, added in July. New, ambitious and small: the profile of a first star, if the kitchen holds up.
Moved from Industry City to Brooklyn Heights and added in July. Known for dry-aged fish and meats, a craft the inspectors notice.
Michelin names its new stars on Monday, December 14, 2026. We'll email you that night with who got one in New York, and how your picks did.
This also opens a free Chef Amazing account: keep the places you love, the lists friends send you and your next trip. Your address is never shared or sold. Picks for New York are counted without an account.Only restaurants without a star today. Then what we read: what the critics wrote this year (the New York Times, the Washington Post, Chicago magazine, the Globe, the Inquirer), James Beard lists, which places Michelin itself added to the guide this year, the critics' read Chef Amazing keeps on each place, and how members who've been rate it. Strong, Good and Long shot are Chef's words for the odds, not math: nobody outside Michelin knows what the inspectors ate.
