No. 11The one to order
An Italian beef, dipped, with hot giardiniera (and sweet peppers if you like)
The 1938 stand that made the Italian beef: thin-sliced roast beef in its spiced gravy, on a roll that's dunked whole. Stand at the counter and eat it the Italian stance, elbows out.
3 hr (30 min hands-on), plus chilling · 6 sandwiches. Seasoned roast beef sliced thin and soaked in its own spiced juice, piled on a French roll and dipped whole if you want it 'wet'. Cooking the beef a day ahead and slicing it cold is how you get the thin slices.
