    Chicken Pot Pie

    Marie Callender's

Flaky crust and a creamy filling. An egg wash and flaky salt on top and a sharp little salad on the side make it feel like a pub supper.

The single-serve pot pie in most American supermarket freezers.

The box saysBake from frozen at 400°F about an hour, on a baking sheet. Rest 5 minutes.

    Make it taste homemade

Golden pot pie with a sharp herb salad

Egg wash makes the crust shine and brown evenly. A salad with mustard vinaigrette cuts the cream.

    You need

    • 1 Marie Callender's Chicken Pot Pie
    • 1 large egg, beaten with 1 tsp water
    • Flaky salt and fresh thyme leaves (or a pinch of dried)
    • 2 handfuls of arugula or butter lettuce
    • 1 tsp Dijon mustard, 1 tsp red wine vinegar, 1 tbsp olive oil
    • A few parsley leaves

    How to make it

    1. Heat the oven as the box says. Brush the frozen top crust with a thin layer of egg wash and sprinkle with flaky salt and thyme.
    2. Bake on a sheet pan as the box says, until the crust is deep golden and the filling bubbles through the vents.
    3. Rest 5 minutes: the filling is very hot.
    4. Whisk the mustard, vinegar and olive oil with a pinch of salt, then toss with the greens and parsley.
    5. Serve the pot pie with the salad alongside.
