Yakitori Chicken Fried Rice
Ajinomoto
Smoky, soy-glazed chicken and properly separate grains. Fry it hot in a skillet, not the microwave, and top it with a crisp fried egg.
Big bags at Costco, smaller ones at most supermarkets.

Fried rice with a crispy fried egg and kimchi
A hot, wide pan gives you the toasty bits a wok gives. An egg fried in plenty of oil with lacy edges is the classic topping across Asia.

You need
- 3 cups (about half a large bag) Ajinomoto Yakitori Chicken Fried Rice, frozen
- 2 tbsp neutral oil, divided
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup kimchi, chopped
- 2 scallions, sliced
- 1 tsp soy sauce and 1/2 tsp toasted sesame oil
How to make it
- Heat 1 tbsp oil in a large skillet over high heat. Add the frozen rice in an even layer and leave it 2 minutes so the bottom toasts.
- Stir and cook 4 to 5 minutes more, pressing it flat now and then, until hot and crisp in spots. Stir in the kimchi for the last minute, then divide between bowls.
- Wipe the pan, add the remaining 1 tbsp oil over medium-high heat and crack in the eggs. Fry 2 minutes, spooning hot oil over the whites, until the edges are brown and lacy and the yolks still runny.
- Set an egg on each bowl.
- Drizzle with the soy sauce and sesame oil and scatter the scallions.
